This area of interest forms part of an ongoing focus, which is employing elements of action research and action learning, to further develop work based learning in Australia. Workplace learning is the learning that occurs [on a day to day basis] in, at and through the normal course of work. The extent of learning that occurs at work is contingent, and extensive research has been and is occurring into workplace learning. Work integrated learning is a particular type of workplace learning – it is learning that is part of a formal program of study that involves the worker (student), their workplace and a an education service provider (such as a training organisation or a university).
